A Girl & Her Dolls
Ever since I was a little girl I always dreamed and imagined make-believe worlds. In the last few years I have thought back to these times, what did I like to watch? What did I like to wear?
Growing closer to my inner-child has answered a lot of questions for me and working on and playing with the fairytales in my head to make art of it in my adult life has been incredibly fulfilling.
I love creating with my hands and being tactile. This blossomed into the artisanal section of the line, to always keep the design aspect alive and creating pieces that can be special in someone’s closet, it can feel like a magical costume or a piece you wear on a special occasion.
I started making dolls last fall and they turned into doll bag charms, that turned into characters of Kyriacos that now turned into a story of a girl who brings her dolls along her with her.
She dresses them up, she tells them her secrets, they stay by her side.
For this mini collection, I wanted there to be pieces everyone can buy into, pieces people can actually style and wear!
I tried something new this time; I sourced and found reference pieces I loved, from movies and book research to flea market finds. I then created my own patterns and my own first sample, I passed off these for local production. I sourced all of my own fabric and trims in Los Angeles, and waited for the magic to be created!
As I am building my dream brand,
I am experimenting and playing, I am channeling my inner younger self and asking her what kind of world did she imagine?
What kind of clothing would live in that world?
